Proof New York Gun Control Laws Don’t Work

New York Gun Laws

New York is easily in the top 5 five states in the country with the harshest forms of gun control laws with the laws in New York City that are even more strict than the other cities in the state.

Do you know how hard it is to legally get a firearm in New York?

You can’t just walk into a gun store and buy a gun, you have to have a license. In New York, it’s NOT just one license that you have to have, you have to have one license to buy handguns and another license to buy rifles and shotguns.

These applications aren’t free. You have to pay $340 for a handgun license and $140 for a shotgun and rifle license. Let’s not forget the $90 for fingerprinting.  That’s $570 just to get permission to buy guns. The application to buy a gun costs more than the average price of an entry-level handgun. Moreover, the process takes up to 6 months or more.

And don’t think you’ll be able to conceal carry your gun either because getting a concealed carry license in New York City is virtually impossible.

New York City has a May issue directive which means you can fulfill all the requirements to get a CCW permit or license, like getting a background check, CCW permit training, pay all the fees and they still can tell you no just because.

In 2011, New York City had a population size of about 8 million people.  Want to know how many people actually had conceal carry permits? 4,000!  And the majority of those people were retired cops, security guards, and celebrities.

In New York City you also have to register all your guns, they have universal background checks, an “assault weapons” ban, high capacity magazine ban, they don’t respect any outside conceal carry permits and if you’re a non-resident traveling to New York City, the last thing you want to do is bring a gun.

Truth Be Told in some cases simply HOLDING certain guns as a nonresident is illegal.

I say all that to ask this one question?  Why aren’t these gun laws working? If there was ever a time these gun laws should be working and keeping guns out of the hands of criminals it should be now!

If gun control was so effective none of these criminals would have the guns they have to commit these crimes, but here we are in 2020 and they not only have these guns, they’re slaughtering people with them.

So much so, the mayor is scrambling to try to do something about it and the reason he’s scrambling is because he can’t blame it on a lack of gun control this time because New York City has the most severe gun control in the world and it’s not stopping this violence.

I don’t think people realize how ironic it is that there is no gun control in his plan what so ever.

We’re talking about a city that prides its self on its gun control laws and brags about how it’s made New York City so much safer over the years.

But now that there’s a massive increase in shootings despite what gun laws are in place.  How interesting is it that now you want to try a more nuanced approach to solving the issue that doesn’t involve infringing on people’s rights because New York has already done that.

The anti-gun politicians know they can’t stop criminals from getting guns and truth be told they don’t really want to stop them because it justifies creating more laws that require the law-abiding citizens to give up more rights and power to these anti-gun politicians.  Defunding the police directly contributes to the increased violence.

They know getting to the real solution is complex and long term and doesn’t make for neat little feel-good campaign slogans come reelection season.

Besides not being able to defend yourself in NYC, if you are a victim or witness to a crime, the arrested now has access to your personal information. Their attorney can now get your home address to pass onto their client so they can intimidate you. Amazing. I’m in NJ, 5 miles west of NYC. I own a handgun but do not even have the option of applying for a carry permit. 3 month process of fingerprints, waiving my HIPPA rights , references, etc. Then a 3 days NICS FBI check after purchasing the gun. I can possess hollow point ammo and transport them to the range. However, if I use them on an intruder in my home it’s a felony. The gun laws in these two states are ludicrous. The politicians make laws while totally ignorant of what they are legislating.

Mayor wants to get more cops in the field? In New York? Sounds like a police state trying to increase its presence of police.

Dear Mayor Deblasio, how is your grassroots neighborhood policing program working out for your city?

  9. Kurt Robinson on April 6, 2021 at 5:11 pm

If these states don’t want guns, don’t sell them any. Gun manufacturing as a whole, refusing to sell or supply the police in these states any firearms and ammo. Give them a gun free society.

  25. Paul Harris on April 6, 2021 at 5:27 pm

The oppressive guns laws in NYC and NYS go back almost 100 years. NYS is NOT part of the United States when it comes to the 2nd Amendment. And because much of the state is controlled by left wing politics of NYC it’s been impossible to make changes. It’s going to take a Supreme Court decision with more clarity on the right of self-defense outside the home to change things especially in downstate NY. The situation in NYS should serve as a warning to those in other states not to take any infringement lightly.

Colion, why are they allowed to get away with these laws and restrictions? Isn’t it unconstitutional. Can’t someone challenge them in the SCOTUS considering the makeup up the court today?

In Texas there is seldom ever a blood bath. There was that one guy who shot people in a Walmart. However, he was quickly taken down by armed citizens before police arrived.

What does Colorado, California, New York, and Illinois have in common? They all have the toughest gun control laws, and they are all run by DEMOCRAT GOVERNORS so to answer your question of ‘When did we stop becoming the United State?’ The answer is; when folks vote for Democrats because they are the ones trying to take away American citizens rights.

  40. Bo Didley on April 6, 2021 at 5:42 pm

New Yorkers, get out while you can. But keep your asses out of my state.

  41. John on April 6, 2021 at 5:42 pm

Hey Colion, I was wondering if you (or anyone else) could address why New York has the 4th lowest gun deaths by state and the 11th lowest murder rate according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention if their gun control laws don’t work? I value the 2nd amendment and do not believe ARs should be banned, but it seems like New Yorks gun control laws, even though they are unconstitutional, have had a positive impact haven’t they? Thanks man and keep up the good work!

  42. Nate GZ on April 6, 2021 at 5:45 pm

New York City has around 8 million people and usually has around the same numbers of murders as Houston which has a population of around 2 million. In 2020 both cities saw more than 400 murders. If you ask me, If New York City had the same gun laws as Houston, (Which is in very gun friendly Texas) they would easily have had 1600 murders. So in all, Gun laws do work. Gun laws have kept New York’s murders low.

  43. Jav B on April 6, 2021 at 5:45 pm

I told y’all so gun law sucks in New York, all the criminal got guns and the innocent don’t unless they do illegal and I ain’t doing that because I have a excellent full-time job for 17 years and part time I can’t lose… my baseball bat is my weapon 😆🤣 just in case

  44. Chad R on April 6, 2021 at 5:51 pm

I have never been back it is unlikely I will ever go to the northeast ever again.

  45. Legyen Géza on April 6, 2021 at 5:51 pm

Expecting that criminals will not get guns, in a state that’s next to many states where babies born with guns in hand, is stupid. They can get trough borders unnoticed with trucks full of guns.
But still for gun people are not right, gun restrictions work. In the whole of the EU as many shootings happen in a year, as in the US a week. It’s because no one has a gun, and it’s not that easy to sneak them trough borders. Sure there are bank robbers and high level criminals who have one, but they are mostly used to scare, and not to kill.

  46. ads681 on April 6, 2021 at 5:53 pm

I live 10 miles north of the NYC border. I have a pistol license from NY State for hunting, target practice and to keep in my home (it took 6 months to get). I can travel 300 miles north in NY State with my pistol to hunt or go to a shooting range but, I cant go south 11 miles or I go to jail. I cant go to Long Island (Part of NY State) with my gun because I have to go through part of NYC to get there. If I lived two counties north of here, I could get a concealed carry permit but, not in my liberal county, its just not possible unless I can prove that I carry lots of cash on a regular basis or I’m in law enforcement. The laws here are total insanity. NYC is the one place that I would want to carry for protection, that’s where the most crime happens. If I do, I go to jail.

  47. Mgraemem on April 6, 2021 at 5:54 pm

Geez. Doesn’t someone in New York have a case to make that pretty much every gun law in this video is unConstitutional??
