Here’s my comparison between a RTX 3080 gaming desktop and the current RTX 2080 laptops. Which one offers more performance for the money? Which one lasts longer? Easier to repair? Easier to configure and buy? Better warranty? Its all so complicated, so I’m going to try and help people choose what’s best for them.

I always prefer desktop. The main problem with laptop is the battery. For some reason I love desktops more

  2. BubChub on April 6, 2021 at 5:02 pm

Laptop is a better deal. More half of them include a HDMI Port so if you want to make it a desktop get a monitor keyboard and mouse and there you go.

  22. machaiping on April 6, 2021 at 5:22 pm

One factor that isn’t obvious to most people is where you live also matters. In some countries or locations where electrical service blackout relatively frequently, desktop will become even more expensive because you have to invest in UPS as well or risk damage to your PC. And UPS for continuous gaming isn’t cheap, if you go with a cheap UPS, all it can do is to gives you 5-10 minutes to save your works and shut down your PC without damage, not for uninterruptible works, let alone gaming.

Laptop on the other hand can cruise for the next hour or two with its built-in battery at the minimum, which hopefully the electrical service will be back by then.

My friend wants a Gaming Pc but her room doesnt have enough room so she wants to get a laptop but she has a but her budget is around 600-800

  26. World 21 on April 6, 2021 at 5:28 pm

Actually it’s easy, if u use ur computer only at home Desktop is much better more comfortable and cery cheaper/stronger better display
If you really really need portability then a weaker more expensive laptop is the way to go, imo if u really need a laptop better get at least a+2k $ one, but desktop u can get even a 400$ one

I have a laptop and a desktop since I travel a lot, and when I’m bored, I can load up screensharing apps like TeamViewer and play my games from there. Best of both worlds 😎

  31. J K on April 6, 2021 at 5:38 pm

I don’t know why I’m here I don’t game. The laptop is good enough for me. My dad has a friend who recycles(?) laptops and sells them for a very cheap price (100 -200 euros). Basically, he would get those laptops from the stores that can’t be sold anymore and have some sort of defect, so he gets a shit ton of those then just makes one good working out of multiple not-so-working laptops. It’s confusing. I had a 100 euro laptop for almost 4 years. It’s still working it’s just very slow, and I don’t want it to just completely die on me. So my dad got me a new laptop a few days ago. it works perfectly fine I can watch youtube, movies, download music. Everything was already installed and ready to use I just had to set few things up like moving things from my old to the new laptop. personalizing etc.

  32. Caleb Smith on April 6, 2021 at 5:41 pm

Going with laptop since they come with everything you need. As a person with a small budget starting from scratch and absolutely zero knowledge of part picking, specs, or building, that’s a deal maker for me. No peripheral costs is a huge bonus too.

This has been in my mind for quite a long time even though it would take me like 3 or 4 years to save enough money but man, I just wanna get a gaming PC or maybe a gaming or even both at some point for the primary reason of videogame development. I can’t decide

  40. Geraldo nunez on April 6, 2021 at 5:47 pm

Laptop all the way. Being able to take my laptop everywhere and play is awesome

  41. D'Angel -0 on April 6, 2021 at 5:48 pm

It depends on how much you game and perhaps what games you play.

I hook my laptop up to my tv. USB keyboard, mouse & wireless gamepad.
Plus, if I’m going away from home for a while. I can pack my laptop and accessories into my Pelican pic & pack foam case and take it with me.

As long as I can play without debilitating lag, then I’m good. But if my MoBo, CPU or ging GPU craps out. Then I’ll need a new laptop.

If I need to upgrade the graphics for certain games. I use a USB Type C external Graphics Card adapter and the video card of available choice.

My laptop does not have a lightening bolt port. USB Type C is the fastest I can work with.
